There are times when you could use some financial breathing room. Our Skip-a-Pay program could provide the relief. If you need to free up funds, you could put a pause on your monthly Scient consumer loan payments and put that money to use elsewhere. It's a smart option when unexpected expenses arise or when you need extra money for holidays or vacations. Just use our online form to get started.
Please note: Effective January 1, 2021, a maximum of three (3) skipped payments per loan, per year and no more than two (2) consecutive skipped payments are allowed.
Each skipped payment comes with a small fee.
Scient FCU is a full-service credit union with branches in New Haven and Groton, Connecticut.
Disclosure
To qualify for the Skip-a-Pay program, your Scient Federal Credit Union account(s) must be in good standing. Not applicable on modified loans L20 or L21, mortgage products or Scient Visas. Requests must be received prior to payment due date. Interest will continue to accrue and may exceed payment. An administrative fee, per loan, per month, will be required every time you request a skipped payment. New loans that have not had at least four (4) payments are not eligible. Cannot be used to resolve any past due status. Loan term extended one (1) month for each skipped payment. Effective March 30, 2020 and until further notice, a maximum of three (3) skipped payments per loan, per year and no more than three consecutive skipped payments allowed. Other restrictions may apply.
Please be aware of additional circumstances that may apply to your loan:
- If the loan payment is an automatic withdrawal set-up with SFCU, SFCU must receive the skip-a-pay request three (3) or more business days before the withdrawal due date to ensure the ACH payment will not be transferred to Scient for the month skipped. (Please see our Disclosure for EFT & Wire Transfer Notifcation for more details)
- If the loan payment is an automatic withdrawal set-up at another Financial Institution, you will need to cancel the payment at that Financial Institution for the month skipped. Scient cannot stop a payment that has been set up at another Financial institution.
- If the loan payment is set up as a transfer within home banking at SFCU, you will need to cancel the home banking transfer for the month skipped. SFCU cannot cancel transfers set-up within your SFCU home banking account.
